Forest Rhythm, Interior

Forest Rhythm, Interior – 24 x 36 inches, Acrylic on Canvas – SOLD

This specific area was found wandering around British Columbia’s interior, there are many places in the interior of B.C that are worth exploring. It is a beautiful place, and vast with numerous possibilities. Although, be cautious of wildlife. To find the best places, as I found this one, I find the below quote succumbs to this. Yes there is a path in the painting, but some of the greatest paths I have discovered, have been discovered by making my own paths first. This area was very busy, and so great thought had to be applied to the planning of this painting. Such as the usual layout of strong composition, acknowledgment of values, focal area, simplification, color, design, pattern arrangement, rhythm and all of the principles of design should be thought of.

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Point at Ruckle Park

Point at Ruckle Park – 24 x 36 inches, acrylic on canvas

After many compositions were studied, this piece was created. Ruckle Park, a place I have visit many times and much more time to come.  Part of my painting journey was spent here, and time well spent. A hidden beauty lies within this place.

Black Tusk

Black Tusk – 36 x 36 inches, acrylic on canvas – SOLD

This is a painting of Black Tusk, a mountain near Garibaldi Provincial Park. It was done as a commission for a very nice local man, who lives in the city. It is of his fondest memories from a hike he once walked upon once upon a time. The place seems very beautiful to me, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you find me behind a easel below Black Tusk mountain some day very soon.

Evans Peak

Evans Peak – 11 x 14 inches, acrylic on linen

Here is a smaller one then usual, this is Evans Peak, near Alouette Lake, British Columbia, and right by Gold Creek.

Flickering Light at Rocky Passage

Flickering Light at Rocky Passage – 24 x 36 inches, acrylic on canvas

This one came into existence after many pieces of paper were tossed behind my shoulder onto my studio floor. After many rough drawings, and composition layouts were studied, this one was ready. I took the thumbnail sketch done from my imagination and furthered it into this creation, the entire painting was done from my imagination.

Mountain Peak, Patterns

Mountain Peak, Patterns – 30 x 36 inches, acrylic on canvas

This painting was born from the depths of my imagination. Starting with an original sketch, visualizing an idea, and composing a strong composition. I played with shapes and patterns, values and colors.

Kits, End of Fall Sunset

24 x 36 inches, acrylic on canvas

A scene local to me, this is Kitsilano Beach, the end of fall, sunset. Recently I took a walk to Kits, and went viewpoint searching, searching for different scenes, views that are possibly hidden to the regular eye. I searched for interesting viewpoints, areas that aren’t a popular spot, to avoid that touristy looking type painting. While I managed to find some decent ideas, and scenes, I did a lot of work with the composition to create a stronger overall landscape and painting.
